City Life
Last night at 9:00 pm a friend of mine was attacked while walking up Grant Street in North Beach. My friend is 6' 2", over 200 lbs, and a black belt martial artist. He was struck from behind in the head, fell to the ground, and was repeatedly hit and kicked in the head by several people. He never saw his assailants.

Films - Whale Rider & Bend It Like Beckham
Saw two great girl-power films recently - Whale Rider about a young Maori girl in New Zealand standing up for her destiny as a tribal leader and Bend It Like Beckham, about an Indian girl in England who loves to play soccer but has to fight her parent's cultural prejudices in order to play.
