Elise on Japanese "Blog TV"

My interview starts a few minutes into the segment.

I was recently interviewed on Technorati Japan's Blog TV, a part of which apparently really gets broadcast on to TV over there. Also interviewed in the segment are David Sifry, CEO of Technorati, and Ben and Mena Trott, founders of Six Apart, the company that makes Typepad, Vox, LiveJournal, and Movable Type blogging tools. The interview was held in Technorati's South-of-Market San Francisco offices, by Fumi Yamasaki, marketing manager for Technorati Japan, and director Shuichi Fujiyasu.

Fumi has what I think is a dream job, shuttling back and forth between Tokyo and the Bay Area, interviewing people for their somewhat tech-centric TV show. She and the director got a kick out of my throwing in occasional Kansai-ben-isms, like "homma-kai-nah" (really?) and "O-ki ni domo" (big thanks, or muchas gracias). I lived in Kyoto for a year studying Aikido, a Japanese martial art. Kyoto is in the southern part of Honshu, the main island of Japan, near Osaka, and they speak with a Southern accent there. None of those made the cut however.

Many thanks to Fumi, Fujiyasu-san, and the crew at Technorati for letting me chat up Simply Recipes and Learning Movable Type on Japanese TV! I had a blast.

That was too cool! It's also really interesting to see how different Japanese TV is to what we get here which is, for all useful purposes, American TV!

YOU ROCK, Elise. ;) That was so cute! I loved your transparency and honesty. You come across as a real person that is very likable on film - and I'm sad that I just now have found your blog when I've been blogging since 2005. Thanks again for the red cabbage recipe I tried tonight. I left a message over there, too. I put my foodie blog name on it, though. :) (Gathering Manna)

Elise - You looked so at-home and natural in front of the camera. Hmm .. any plans for a "Simply Recipes" TV show (smile)?
