Conservatory of Flowers

flower.jpg

The San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers has finally reopened after 8 years. The Conservatory closed down after the terrible wind storms of 1995 destroyed much of the glass and structure. The building had been beautifully restored when we checked in last week for a peek. The flower above was in a heated tropical flower room with a huge lily pond. One fun exhibit for children shows butterfly cocoons in various stages of development. That particular room has butterflies flying all over the place. The Conservatory is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9am to 4:30pm, and the admission for adults is only $5. If you've never been there, the Conservatory is on the right hand of the road, just after you enter Golden Gate Park from Fell Street.

It's especially beautiful at night, when it is all lit up inside.
