Merry Christmas

Seasons greetings from the Simply Recipes Team: Elise, Chief Trainee in all things ("Mom, why aren't my beans growing up the pole?" "You planted bush beans" "There's a difference?"), "Mom", head of Quality Assurance ("add a teaspoon of sugar to take the edge off the acidity of that sauce" or more often, "needs salt"), and "Dad", Executive Vice President of Research and Development ("here are the 20 recipes I found on 'how to boil an egg' plus another one which I made up...").

Merry Christmas, from our house to yours.

Walls for the wind,
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire
(Irish Blessing)

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Elise. Your blog is always informative, beautifully photographed and has recipes I can trust - but best of all it is peppered with stories about your lovely parents. On another note: I am concerned that you have released a photo of your house. I worry that you will have readers showing up at odd hours begging for food!

From the sugar cookies we left out for Santa to the french toast we enjoyed for Christmas breakfast and the scalloped potatoes we plan to eat for supper, your blog and recipes have made our holiday grand. I feel so happy to have discovered your blog (and as an ex-pat Californian, I love the notes from home). So thank you very much for all the terrific postings and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I just recently discovered 'Simply Recipes' and I love looking up your recipes and reading your blog. I'm not a cook, yet, but you've inspired me many times. Maybe this year's resolution is to try one recipe a week. You'all have a happy new year. marsha

Elise, just discovered your food blog and it has become my favorite site to visit when in need of a special recipe or just to visit and enjoy your pictures, recipes and personal comments. I made your Sour Cream Apple Pie for Christmas and got rave reviews - plan on making another today as it was "gone" in a hurry at the party and I only got to taste a very small piece - it is divine. Happy New Year to you and your Mom and Dad.

I was looking for a banana bread recipe and found your website! I love it...especially because my daughters name is Elise. You don't come across too many Elise's!

Happy New Year.
