Indispensable Krups Juicer

krups-juicer.jpg

There is one small kitchen appliance we have that gets more use than the toaster, the blender, the food processor, the mixer, combined, and that is our handy dandy Krups Juicer. (See the latest Krups juicer model.) It must get used several times a day, especially during the citrus seasons when there is a lot of juicing to be done. But even in the off season we use so many lemons and limes in cooking that the juicer still ends up getting a lot of use. It catches the seeds and strains them away from the juice, and I can't remember the last time I got squirted in the eye with lemon juice. The motor is activated by pressure. So when you place half a lemon (or other citrus fruit) down upon it, pushing down gently will make the juicer start spinning. Lift up and push down again, and the motor will spin the juicer in the opposite direction. It's also really easy to clean and holds almost 4 cups. Indispensable for lemonade lovers.

Hi, Elise. Just curious - when did you get your juicer? The new model you linked to only has a "generous 30 ounce capacity", which kind of loses something in translation when compared to yours which you said holds almost 7 cups. Unless my math skills aren't what I thought they were, I think I'm gonna stick with my old Vita-Mix. :)

Hi Annie - Doh! My brain must not have been working properly last night when I wrote this post. 30 ounces. Almost four cups, not 7. Correction made.

I've been on the verge of buying one of these so was happy to see your review. With two lemon trees, an orange tree, and a newly planted lime tree, we juice a lot of citrus! I enjoy your blog.
